What are your prices?
You can find our full pricelist and availability of mediums and sizes here.
Which methods of payment do you accept?
We currently only accept credit or debit cards through our secure payment gateway, Stripe. We don’t offer Paypal at this time. If you are from the UK, please contact us if you would like to do a bank transfer.
Do you charge extra for alterations/modifications?
Customers are allowed up to three alterations or modifications per order. If you aren’t satisfied after three modifications, then the order is considered cancelled.
What is the quality of your portraits?
All our artists have many years of experience and are considered master artists. You can find examples of their work in our gallery. The work they produce is of museum quality.
Which currencies do you accept?
We currently price everything in UK Pounds only.
Shipping & Turnaround
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping is free for all orders. If you would like to expedite your order for a small fee, please choose the express service during checkout.
How long will it take to receive my portrait?
This really depends on the medium you choose and the size of the portrait. As a general rule, oil portraits take longer than charcoal portraits. The more subjects you have in your portrait, the longer it will also take. Portrait Pictures aims for a turnaround time of 3 weeks. We are often much quicker than that, but some portraits can require extra work.
As a customer, you may feel that the quicker you get your portrait the better, but remember these are handpainted / handdrawn works of art and you don’t want the artists to rush them as the quality will suffer.
If you require your portrait urgently, it is suggested you add the express service at the checkout.
Do you offer an express service?
Yes we do! All our orders are eligible for free shipping, but to get the express service make sure to check the appropriate box during checkout.
If I order more than one portrait, will I have to pay extra for shipping?
If you order more than one portrait at once, we will ship them combined at no extra cost to you.
How will my portrait be packaged?
Your portrait will be sent to you rolled in a secure, sealed container. This keeps our costs and your prices down. We find most clients want the choice to have their portrait framed themselves.
Which is the best medium for my photo?
This is entirely subjective. We only focus on the best charcoal and oil artists because these two mediums are overwhelmingly popular. Now, which is the better medium? Well, if you are looking for a detailed life-like portrait then charcoal is the way to go. However, if you want thicker brush strokes and a more colourful, more textured portrait, then it should be oil.
Can I buy a gift certificate?
We currently don’t offer this service.
Can I send my photos by email?
Yes, of course! We have a way to upload your photos in the checkout process, but if you are having a problem please email them to us. Our email address is [email protected]
Can I send my photos by regular mail?
We , currently, don’t accept photos by mail or post. If you are unsure of how to digitise or scan a photo, we recommend taking a look at this.
On the website you quote the size as 15"x22" (38cmx56cm), what if I want 22"x15" (56cmx38cm)?
When we write 15″x22″, it means both 15″x22″ and 22″x15″. If the photograph you send us is taken in landscape (horizontal) it will be drawn/painted in 22″x15″. If you send a portrait photograph (vertical), we use 15″x22″.
If you would prefer it to be the other way around, please let us know in the comments section during the order process.
What if my photo is not of high quality or damaged in some way?
Please let us take a look before ordering, so we can give you our opinion on whether the photograph is useable. The results of our portraits depend hugely on how much detail the artist can see in the photo, so to avoid disappointment, please email us your photo at [email protected]
Can you combine elements from more than one photograph into a single portrait?
Absolutely. We can take, for example, take three different people from three different photos and combine them into one portrait. Please make sure to let us know in detail in the comments section during your order what you would like us to do.
Can I order a custom size?
Absolutely. Email us your prefered size of portrait and medium and we’ll get back to you a.s.a.p. with a quote. Our email is [email protected]
Can I preview my order before you ship it?
Yes. Once your portrait is finished, we will contact you and have you review it online. The majority of our customers are very pleased with the first viewing. If you feel you would like some modifications, we take your feedback onboard and make the modifications. We then contact you again, once those are done, for you to sign off on your portrait before we ship it to you.
Is my private information protected?
All of your information shared through our encrypted, secure server is used solely for your order. We do not share or sell your information to third parties.
